Peel Ports names construction contractors
Peel Ports Group, the UK’s second-largest port operator, has appointed 18 contractors to its new construction framework, valued at up to £750 million.
The framework, covering a range of works across the group’s UK and Ireland ports, spans up to eight years and is divided into three lots – general construction, marine construction, and major projects on a national scale.
“We’re pleased to announce the 18 contractors who have been selected to carry out this important work across our ports in the UK and Ireland,” said Lewis McIntyre, managing director – Port Services at Peel Ports Group.
“This rigorous procurement process has allowed us to select the very best regional and national partners, who will support the ongoing development of our network of logistics hubs.”
The contractors will support projects at Peel Ports’ key locations including the Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, London Medway, Clydeport, Great Yarmouth and Dublin Port.
The framework is designed to deliver Peel Ports’ long-term construction pipeline, which includes both infrastructure upgrades and new developments.
The general construction scope covers a wide range of works, such as drainage, road and car park construction, earthworks, foundations, warehouse maintenance, rail and bridge construction and demolition. Marine construction tasks will involve specialist services like piling, quay wall refurbishments and maintenance of locks and sluice gates.
