Smiths Heimann, part of Smith Detection, has won a service contract from the Italian Customs authority Agenzia delle Dogane valued at ?8m over a three year period. The company will maximize the operational efficiency of some thirty Silhouette Scan systems in daily use for the inspection of freight at Italian Customs posts since January 2002. The contract includes technical maintenance and substitute Silhouette Scan services.
