German super port, JadeWeser, which was designed to handle 18,000 teu ships, has put its 400 contracted workforce on part-time working, despite having opened only in September 2012.
Low vessel calls have been blamed although Eurogate has stressed that "it takes time” to build up traffic for a new port.
“We must strengthen our market position,” the operator said. “Of course, the economic situation is not helping."
