Liebherr has launched a crane driver elevator with drive technology powered by an electric motor with lithium-ion battery and the ability to recover up to 40% of energy.

LiUP’s battery is automatically charged when it is in its parked position and the elevator can achieve approximately 40% energy recovery as it descends.
Capable of transporting up to two people or a payload of 200kg, LiUP is designed to transport crane operators in a safe and efficient way, saving time and energy compared to climbing up stairs. The lift, exhibited at TOC Europe, can also be used by service engineers carrying out maintenance work.
There are no additional supply lines such as cables or ropes and autarchic power supply is provided in the event of a power failure by the lithium-ion battery drive technology.
The stopping positions of LiUP are monitored by three limit switches, while a clasp break reacts if the elevator starts to travel too fast. Inductive sensors check whether a guide rail is installed and a redundant sensor system can detect people and prevent the risk of crush injuries.
LiUP has already been deployed successfully with Liebherr tower cranes.
