A new Liebherr materials handler crane could optimise cargo-handling efficiency and minimise emissions at ABP’s Port of Ayr.
With an operating weight of 95,000-105,000kg, the LH110 will primarily handle agribulks and minerals and has a tier 4f engine with an 300kW/408HP output designed to improve fuel efficiency by up to 30% and lower emissions.
Ayr is the first UK port to purchase the model, which has a reach of 23.8m and lifting capacity of 8.1t. Stuart Cresswell, port manager, Ayr & Troon at ABP, said: “The Port of Ayr has an enviable reputation of being one of the UK quickest ports for cargo discharge, which saves our customers a lot of money.”
At a time when global ports are investing in more efficient and environmentally friendly technology, Mr Creswell pointed out that ports provide a “cost effective alternative to moving goods by road.”
The LH110’s uppercarriage features optimised hydraulics with a closed slewing mechanism circuit, plus a two-circuit Liebherr-Synchron-Comfort-system (LSC) with LUDV technology encompassing electronic engine speed sensing regulation, pressure and flow compensation and automatic oil flow optimizer, for greater fuel efficiency, faster work cycles and less emissions.
An attachment for use in tough scrap recycling has an energy recovery cylinder filled with nitrogen for maximum efficiency through less fuel consumption with more handling capacity.
