Marseille Fos has upgraded its Port Community System (PCS) from the Escale V2 Nautique application to a new Neptune Port system, an investment of around €3m.
The previous system only allowed a partial computer declaration of information and could not avoid the need for paper documents, but Neptune Port offers a full PCS system, which links all of the port activities together in one place.
Neptune Port facilitates the movement of ships and cargo and displays the information in real-time so that port stakeholders can improve the fluidity of port transit, optimising turnaround times for vessels and river barges.
Because it’s a central port authority system, Neptune Port manages the full range of port activities (cruise, ferry, roro, containers, bulk cargo, etc).
The software communicates directly with external systems such as the Port Authority radar (VTS), the Cargo Community System (AP +) and most of the Maritime Affairs system.
It’s a single window system that complies with the EU Directive 2010/65, so it also offers the opportunity for those registered in EU ports to simplify port formalities.
The upgrade project is the result of close collaboration between the teams of the Port of Marseille Fos, port users, the Marseille Gyptis International team (MGI AP + flux) and CAPGEMINI, which was in charge of application development.
