New mobile harbour crane for Napier
A NZ$6m Gottwald HMK300E mobile harbour crane is expected to become fully operational at the Port of Napier in early September.
For the first half of 2008 overall, the index registered 13.7 days, which compares with the 22.9 days reported 12 months ago.
Its features include an eight-axle undercarriage, five-metre tower extension to work extra-high vessels, 100-tonne lifting capacity and 50-metre lifting radius.
With the pending sale of its original mobile container crane, commissioned in 1990, the port company will have a fleet of three mobile harbour cranes in operation.
