South Africans progressing ports legislation

Additional clauses have been inserted into South Africas National Ports Authority Bill enabling Public Enterprises minister Jeff Radebe to direct state holding company Transnet to speed up the privatisation of its ports division if he detects any signs of deliberate foot dragging. Transnet currently generates much of its profit from the ports and is thought to be reluctant to lose them.
