TRANSNET BOARD FIRED

The management board of Transnet, South Africas state-ownedtransport organisation, was replaced recently after losses of $940m reported for the year. Transnet is responsible, amongst other sectors, for South Africas ports and South African Airways which is technically insolvent. The main reason for the record loss was a massive hedging loss by South African Airways.
