LNG bunkering terminal for Denmark

The terminal will be of Liquiline design – a Liquiline Bulk ST2FF type. It will feature an on-site storage tank with a gross volume of 500m³ and a bunkering solution having a bunkering capacity of up to 400m³of LNG per hour. This design will enable Fjord Line to bunker its ships within two hours, which is how long the cruise ferries are docked at the port.

“Fjord Line is very much looking forward to having this LNG ship bunkering terminal from Liquiline established. It will enable us to bunker our ships quickly and give us the possible to make use of this terminal commercially,” added Gert Balling, director, Fjord Line.

Fjord Line calls at the Port of Hirtshals on a daily basis with one of its two LNG-fuelled cruise ferries, MS Stavangerfjord and MS Bergensfjord. The two ferries trade between Norway and Denmark and each have a capacity of 1,500 passengers and 600 cars, trucks and cargo.

The terminal is expected to be operational by the end of this year.
