Emco loading arms for Brazilian terminal
Global fluid handling equipment manufacturer, Emco Wheaton, has supplied global oil and gas company, Petrobras, with high pressure marine loading arms for its new Bahia Regasification Terminal (TRBA) in Brazil.
Emco’s 12 inch CNG marine loading arms can be operated at pressures up to 130 bar with a hydraulic quick connect/disconnect (QC/DC) Coupler and include an integrated safety feature to allow rapid and automatic release of the loading arm from the ship in the event of an emergency.
A rigid link pantograph system with independent counterweights ensures accurate balancing of the arm throughout all manoeuvring and connecting positions. They have been designed to withstand extreme pressure, flows and conditions while meeting the most stringent international safety regulations.
The terminal, located in the Bay of All Saints, has the capacity to regasify 14,000,000m³ of natural gas a day, ensuring the supply of natural gas to the north east of the country. It will transfer LNG between ships and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to shore using a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), which will be permanently moored at the terminal.
Petrobras will use the arms to transfer LNG to the shore based pipeline, once it has been vapourised onboard the FSRU.
