Los Angeles commended for Wilmington Waterfront report

The EIR preparation and public review were completed within 15 months, and the document was certified by the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners in June 2009. “This was a first-class effort by our environmental team, their consultants and other port staff, and it played a critical role in the Wilmington Waterfront project being approved by the Harbor Commission,” said Port of Los Angeles executive director Geraldine Knatz. ICF Jones and Stokes, the consultancy for the project, was also honoured for its work on the report. The award was announced in mid-March at the Association of Environmental Professionals annual conference in Palm Springs. The group is a non-profit organisation of environmental practitioners and natural resource managers dedicated to the enhancement, maintenance and protection of the natural and human environment.
