BUSAN
Busan will open three new berths in January as part of a US$9bn programme to double its existing container handling capacity by 2011.
These include NYK, MOL, CMA CGM, PSA, HPH, Evergreen, Container Corporation of India, Larsen & Toubro and Gammon India. A contract is expected to be awarded in September or October.
In all, nine new berths are under construction, although the intention is eventually to build 30 at a new harbour area 25 kilometres west of the existing port.
