Chinese and Trinidad & Tobago select SeaSecure
The Chinese government has selected maritime security and counter-terrorism consultants, SeaSecure, to provide training for the Hong Kong Marine Department in preparation for ISPS Code compliance.
Kim Petersen, SeaSecure’s president, said: “Working with our regional partner, Securicor, we have already concluded over six training and certification classes and more are already in the pipeline.”
The Marine Department students will become Port Facility Security Officers in Hong Kong or the People’s Republic of China, where they will perform port security audits. The three- and five-day training programs provide instruction on maritime security using protocols established by the IMO and SeaSecure.
In Trinidad & Tobago government and port authority operators are using SeaSecure to perform maritime security port vulnerability assessments and security plans for their port facilities – again, ahead of the ISPS compliance deadline of 1 July. SeaSecure is providing similar services to other Caribbean nations including Grenada and Aruba.
SeaSecure says its staff have performed such assessments in over 90 countries and 165 seaports.
In 2001, SeaSecure was selected to be the lead security consultant to all of Florida’s deep-water ports and, in 2002, to perform seaport and facility vulnerability and threat assessments at over a dozen strategic seaports in the United States.
