Chinese box growth continues to slow
Figures released for October showed that volumes handled by Chinese major ports were up 6% year on year, 2.1% lower than the rate in September.
Chinese ports have registered three consecutive months of slowing growth, with October’s figure the lowest this year.
A slump in container traffic means that only 10.65m teu was handled in October, up 8.2% year-on-year, although 8% lower than for October 2007. Growth in container traffic has been below the 10% mark now for two consecutive months.
