Chinese ports post record numbers
ChinasMinistry of Communications has revealed that in 2007 Chinese portshandled a combined 112.7m teu, while total throughput amounted to 6.4bntonnes. China now has 14 ports each handling 100m tonnes, which is morethan any other country in the world.
In November 2007, the ports of Qingdao and Tianjin both surpassed throughput levels for the entire previous year at 9m teu and 6.5m teu respectively.
