Dighi signs land handover
Indias Dighi port developer has signed a lease with Maharashtra Maritime Board confirming a 50-year lease on 77 hectares of land on the west coast of India. The plans for Dighi port include construction of a free trade warehousing zone, railway sidings, warehousing, storage yards and road infrastructure.
As part of the plan, ports will be allocated to six regional groups. These will be developed using both local and foreign investment capital, with joint ventures between state companies and private companies to be encouraged for the development of larger ports.
