DP World to invest $450m in Kochi
DP World is expected to issue a tender for the design of a $450m container terminal in the Indian port of Kochi, which is located in the southern state of Kerala.
APM Terminals, CMA-CGM, DP World, ETA, ICTS, Gammon Infrastructure, IL&FS, GVK, Soma Enterprises and Concor are all interested in bidding.
A second tender will cover construction of the aforementioned facility. The company dismissed claims that this would put the company in a monopoly situation in respect of container handling in India following its acquisition of P&O Ports, which operates major box terminals in Chennai and at JNPT.
