Indian ports to have freedom to set tariffs
Indias Shipping Ministry believes that major ports should be able to implement market pricing, instead of leaving this to the port regulator, the Tariff Authority of Major Ports (Tamp).
Ports currently managed by the state government already have such freedom.
No timetable has yet been set for this, although the ministry says it is important to do to ensure that ports throughout India have a level playing field.
