JN Port wants wider channel
Jawaharlal Nehru Port is to finally issue a new tender for the deepening and widening of the main harbour channel. This aspiration of the port authority has been ongoing since 2004. Forecast cost has now reached $178.7m.
A container terminal at Ennore, deep draught iron ore and coal berths at Paradip, the conversion of the general cargo terminal at Tuticorin to a box terminal, the establishment of a mechanised iron ore handling facility at New Bangalore, and a bulk terminal at Goa are the six favoured projects.
