JNPT fourth terminal up for grabs

JNPT is to invite new bids for its projected fourth container terminal by the end of March.

This new facility will boost capacity at the port from 4.8m teu to 5.2m teu.

Previously, a PSA-led consortium walked away from the project after disagreements with investment partners.

Meanwhile, JNPT has sought permission to issue bonds worth $368m, although the core issue would be for $92m, with the remainder to reflect possible over-subscription.

The money is needed for dredging work to deepen and widen the access channel and for capital expenditure on other projects.
