Major interest in Chennai box terminal project
A total of 24 companies that requested qualification documents linked to the proposed new container terminal at Chennai have indicated a strong interest in the project.
APM Terminals, CMA-CGM, DP World, ETA, ICTS, Gammon Infrastructure, IL&FS, GVK, Soma Enterprises and Concor are all interested in bidding. The submissions deadline was extended to February 18 in order to attract additional borrowing bidders. Investment is to the tune of $739m, of which $112m will be invested by the port authority in dredging, navigational aids and parts. The other $626m will come from the private operator.
