Patimban Port tender launched

The Indonesian government has opened the bidding process for the construction of Patimban Port in Subang, West Java worth $1bn, an official said.

According to The Jakarta Post, Anwar, secretary to the Transportation Ministry’s Patimban Port construction team, said that three packages were being offered: terminal, breakwater and seawall and connecting breach, with the winning bidders to be announced in March.

Mr Anwar was reported as telling kontan.co.id that building of the port, which is worth Rp 13.7tr, will start in early April.

“Because of limited human and financial resources, each company would only handle one package,” he said.

Mr Anwar also reportedly said that talks between the Indonesian government and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency continued to be ongoing, with the loan anticipated to be signed in November.

He added that the Transportation Ministry would also put out a tender for a private operator to help run Patimban Port alongside state-owned port operator PT Pelindo II.

According to Mr Anwar, construction of the car terminal is anticipated to be completed in March 2019, while the Patimban project is expected to be finished in the December of that year.
