Port Klang access to be improved
Malaysia is to improve access to Port Klang as part of a government initiative to boost exports via improved logistics.
Approximately RM300m ($81.45m) has been allocated to improve the last-mile connectivity to Port Klang under the Logistics and Trade Facilitation Masterplan announced by the country’s Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
There was no elaboration of how this would be done but previously the government has said it would “improve last mile connectivity to Port Klang including access road, railway network and traffic management system”.
The strategic location of the country, regional relationship networking, good transportation infrastructure and economic stability could help realise Malaysia’s huge potential as a regional logistics hub, Najib added.
“The implementation of the Master Plan is expected to strengthen Malaysia’s position as the preferred logistics gateway to Asia,” Najib said in a press report.
