PPA tenders sought
The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is seeking tenders to take on the construction and rehabilitation of three of its ports.
That is according to an invitation published in the media, which said that bidding is restricted to Filipino citizens/sole proprietor, partnerships or organisations with at least 75% interest or outstanding capital stock belonging to citizens of the Philippines.
The projects up for tender include a construction of a back-up area and pier extension at the Port Basco in Batanes with a budget worth P101.1m.
A P121.3m expansion at the Port of San Jose and construction of a back-up area and ro-ro ramp at the Port of Benoni in Camigui, allotted P55.5m are also up for tender.
Terms of reference can be purchased for a non-refundable fee from PPA. Deadlines for submissions of interest are 22 October for the first two projects and 23 October for the Benoni project. A pre-bid conference is due to place next week in Manila.
PPA has being pushing to privatise its ports since 2010 as a means of attracting private sector investment in infrastructure projects.
