Private aims for Indias Karwar

The small Indian West Coast Port of Karwar is to have a privately operated container terminal.

This project is being financed by Vikram Integrated Logistics Private Limited, which has so far spent €1.73m on developing what will eventually be a €3.46m scheme.

Once operational, the terminal will be able to handle 30,000 teu/year and is expected to take some pressure off of existing terminals at Mangalore, Kochi and Chennai.

It will be operated on a 20-year lease, although this could be extended to the end of that period.
