Thailand focus on small ports

There will be “small ports here and there”, Deputy Prime Minister, M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakul said in a speech in Bangkok.

“We will lay the ground for these small ports,” he said.

These ports would be on Thailand’s Gulf coast and are for internal transport, he added.

Giving the example of moving goods from Pattaya on the South East coast to Songkhla in its ‘deep south’, he said inland movements were expensive and a barrier to trade making such ports necessary.
