Thailand safety rules
The Port Authority of Thailand has been ordered to complete a new set of safety measures for emergencies in a bid to help make its deepwater port Laem Chabang the countrys first safety port, official sources have confirmed.
The Transport Ministry will then forward the plan to the Cabinet for their consideration by the end of March.
Sources at both Laem Chabang Port and the Port Authority confirmed the timetable, but added that they didn’t know what the measures would involve in detail yet – suggesting that they were caught offguard by the Ministry’s announcement.
The move comes after a number of accidents at the port during last year raised concerns about its operations and procedures.
