Third Chennai box terminal approved

Indias Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure has given the green light for a project to build a large new container terminal in the port of Chennai. This will require investment of $800m and will be offered as a build-operate-transfer project, as part of a 30-year concession. Construction will take seven years to complete and the container terminal will have a capacity of 4m teu.
