The Confederation of Indian Industry wants to see expansion of Tuticorin fast tracked with the aim of establishing it as a regional hub for container and other traffic. Over the last nine years, volumes have increased by 6% annually but the Confederation would like to see the immediate construction of the proposed north cargo berths to handle bulk cargo and the development of part of the proposed outer harbour.
