Yangshan now biggest port in the world
China claims that the new Shanghai Yangshan port that entered operations this autumn is the worlds largest in terms of container handling. Construction began in 2002 and culminated in the building of 16 berths along 5.6 km of coast. Capacity will be in the region of 10m teu.
