YICT hits a new milestone

YICT says that the accomplishment is testament to the proactive measures it has taken to overcome various challenges over the years.

A spokesperson said: “YICT continually pursues innovation in port development, Customs reforms, multimodal transportation, and technological development,” which no doubt has helped, but it’s also strategicaly placed geographically and is a naturally occuring deep-water berth too.

YICT has always taken an environmentally friendly approach to its infrastructure development and day-to-day business operations. It was one of the first Chinese container terminal operators to deploy electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes (eRTGC) and LNG-powered container tractors. At the moment, YICT has 150 eRTGC and 280 LNG tractors in operation.

With its operational expertise and service excellence, YICT has has helped facilitate the growth of Shenzhen’s economy and helped the city to achieve the largest export volume of any city in China for 19 consecutive years. YICT has also contributed to the city’s position as an important gateway to South China and is a key logistic hub within the Asia-Pacific region.

The first two berths at YICT commenced operations in late 2003. The remaining two berths were completed at the middle and end of 2004 and the entire Phase III project was completed by the end of 2005.
