Cargotec changes board following Kalmar split

In April this year, Cargotec announced it was considering separating its Kalmar and Hiab businesses, following the earlier news that MacGregor would no longer be part of its portfolio.

Pekka Ala-Pietilä has been proposed as new chair of a standalone Kalmar along with current board members, Teresa Kemppi-Vasama and Tapio Kolunsarka.

Michel Van Roozendaal will step down as president of Kalmar to be replaced with Cargotec president and chief executive Casimir Lindholm as interim president until a permanent chief executive is appointed.

“Kalmar is performing and developing well, but the board believes that Kalmar needs a new leader with extensive experience to drive Kalmar’s transition and planned listing readiness capabilities,” said Jaakko Eskola, chair of the Cargotec board of directors.

“Casimir is well positioned to lead Kalmar during the coming very important months, while also maintaining his current responsibilities as Cargotec CEO.”

Other moves include Mikael Laine assuming the role of interim chief operating officer in addition to his current role of senior vice president strategy. As of 1 July 2023, Sakari Ahdekivi was appointed to serve as chief financial officer of Kalmar.
