..and Gottwald diversification
Gottwald Port Technology has announced its diversification into another sector of the cargo-handling equipment supply market – pontoon mounted cranes, or barge cranes. At the same time, it has reported the first order from its new HPK range of Harbour Pontoon Cranes, a HPK 330 EG unit destined for service on the Mississippi River.
Tideworks is to install its Mainsail Terminal Management System and Spinnaker Planning Management System at the terminal – integrated terminal operating and planning software solutions for marine terminals, intermodal yards and container depots.
The primary application for the HPK Harbour Pontoon Crane system is the transhipment of cargo from mother vessels to river barges.
The technology is very similar to that employed in its well-known mobile crane range – from the slewing ring upwards – the only major difference is that it is pontoon mounted and thus adapted to the special requirements of this work environment. This latest innovation follows on from the adaptation of its proven mobile crane technology in 1998 to offer the HSK Series of crane mounted on a rubber-tyred chassis.
