Green Freeports
The governments of the UK and Scotland have announced plans to develop two new Green Freeports at Inverness and Cromarty Firth and Firth of Forth.
The UK government is providing up to £52 million (US$63.3 million) in funding, with the initiative expected to generate an estimated £10.8 billion (US$13 billion) of private and public investment and create more than 75,000 new jobs. Sites in North East Scotland, Orkney and Clyde were not approved.
