Konecranes wins Indonesia contract
Finnish company Konecranes has won an order for an automated Rubber-tyred gantry crane (ARTG) from PT Prima Multi Terminal, a subsidiary of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I.
The contract includes eight ARTG cranes with associated software, interfaces and services, as well as three ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.
The order for the terminal at Kuala Tanjung Port, North Sumatera will see the new ARTG system delivered at the end of 2018, with the STS cranes arriving two months before.
The ARTG system’s 16-wheel ARTG cranes will be all-electric and automated, as well as being equipped with active load control and GPS autosteering.
The delivery will also comprise four Remote Operating Stations, truck guidance systems, intelligent gates for the container stacks, interface for miscellaneous container yard infrastructure, automation software and a TRUCONNECT® remote service, giving customers 24/7 access to Konecranes’ global network of crane experts.
The STS cranes will be post-panamax size and have an outreach of 48m.
“The value our customers perceive from our automation system is delivered through elimination of unintended crane movements, reduced energy and maintenance bills, and increased productivity,” said Janne Eklund, Konecranes’ sales director for Port Cranes for the Asia Pacific region.
Indonesia is a strategically important country for Konecranes, with the company having operated there for 18 years.
