MSC orders Kalmar machines
Cargo handling solutions and services provider Kalmar is set to further its relationship with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) after the shipping line placed a new order for container-handling equipment.
The order, which is made up of five Kalmar reachstackers and two empty container handlers, was booked in the Q3 2017 intake for Cargotec, the company that owns the cargo handling business.
The new products make up part of a fleet renewal programme and will be used to process laden and empty containers at MSC’s five terminal sites in South Africa.
Delivery of the machines will begin in Q4 2017 and will continue into Q2 2018.
Kalmar’s local team of technicians already offer MSC technical support, spare parts and training services.
Commenting on the new order, Sandra Sarno, director for MSC, said: “The trustworthy performance of our existing Kalmar machines played a major role in our decision to place this new order.
