Refurbished rather than new cranes
Rather than buying new, PSA Mersin, one of the largest container ports in Turkey, commissioned Portunus to upgrade and retrofit three of its STS cranes with the latest technology currently available.
Although this was a fairly complex requirement needing a thorough inspection of the cranes’ condition to determine the scope of the challenge, Portunus went ahead with the refurbishment and modernisation program which, upon completion, was tested and certified by Lloyds Turkey.
This project will enable PSA Mersin to be in compliance with the current safety legislations and at the same time reduce operational and maintenance costs. This crane life extension, among other investments, will allow the company to have more reliable and effective cranes.
