Repeat RTG order from Charleston
Konecranes has received a repeat order for four 16-wheel RTGs from South Carolina State Ports Authority in Charleston. The order value is around _5m and there is an option for 4 additional RTGs.
The cranes will be delivered in December to the Wando Welch Terminal.
In 2003 KCI Konecranes share of the world market for 16-wheel RTG cranes grew to approximately 50%.
The 16-wheel RTGs have a lifting capacity of 50 tons, a lifting height of 59 feet and a span of 75 feet – or one-overfive containers high and sixplus-truck lanes wide. Handling efficiency is achieved by high hoist, trolley traverse and gantry speeds and additionally the RTG’s will be fully equipped with Sway Prevention, Fine Positioning Systems, etc. All features are electromechanical, with no hydraulics involved.
Eliminating the hydraulic systems and utilising AC drives significantly reduces the maintenance costs of the RTGs, and reduces emissions.
KCI Konecranes’ local harbour crane maintenance organisation, KCI Koneports Americas will provide maintenance and technical support for the RTG cranes.
