ABP has received outline planning consent for 4.25 million sq ft of development at the Port of Hull
The port operator wants to offer up development of the 453 acres of land around half of which is located within the East Hull Humber Freeport Tax Assisted Zone offering significant tax incentives for inward investors.
“The Humber International Enterprise Park is one of the premier development sites in the North of England,” said Simon Bird, regional director for the Humber, ABP.
“The site offers huge potential to support business growth. Port-centric manufacturers and distributors would have easy access to import and export commodities while benefiting from the Humber Freeport status.”
Ripe for development
The site is part of a tranche of more than 1,000 acres of development land across 14 locations, which ABP has earmarked to support the UK’s supply chain, industrial, manufacturing and renewable energy sectors.
One of the most notable developers across the site in recent years is the Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbine blade manufacturing facility which opened on the Green Port Hull site in December 2016.
Construction work recently started on an expansion of the blade factory as part of a further GB£186m investment by the company which is set to create 200 new jobs.
Siemens has also submitted a planning application to vary a condition of the original approval for the scheme to allow for a wider range of business uses.
If given the go-ahead, this could allow around 10% of the site to be made available for additional uses.
This would include new low carbon and renewable industries, temporary berths for marine vessels and general marine engineering activity to include carbon capture and storage plans.
