A new linkspan is significantly improving loading and unloading at a RoRo terminal in Sweden.
In response to increasing volumes of RoRo traffic, the Ports of Stockholm has installed the large-sized linkspan for rolling goods in Stockholm Norvik Port.
“Thanks to Stena Line’s new route to Hanko in Finland and the increasing number of calls via Stockholm Norvik Port, we are expanding our service and offer more efficient handling,” commented Johan Wallén, marketing and sales manager at Ports of Stockholm.
“With a new linkspan in place for RoRo traffic, we enable increased productivity and meet customer needs,” he added.
The new 146 metre by 10 metre linkspan will join the ports existing two ramps, which are 29 metres by 16 metres. All three ramps are dimensioned to be able to handle vessels larger than those currently calling at Ports of Stockholm.
A newly built deep sea port on the Baltic, Stockholm Norvik Port is an important logistics hub for RoRo and container traffic. “As one of Sweden’s largest freight ports, we are building for the future and securing the important supply of goods to the Stockholm region, by far Sweden’s largest consumer area.
“The steady increase of RoRo goods since the opening of Stockholm Norvik Port confirms how valuable the port is for sustainable transports in the greater Stockholm region,” said Nicklas Ebersson, marketing manager cargo at Ports of Stockholm.
