Call for South Island freight hub
A two islands, two hubs solution is required to rectify distortions in New Zealands logistical and transport sectors, according to Canterbury Manufacturers Association (CMA) chief executive John Walley. Particularly incensed about the lack of a local roll-on roll-off option to Australia for companies based in the South Island, Mr Walley said shippers in the rest of the country will continue to suffer if Auckland remains the sole focal trading point.
