Seven chase Brisbane concession

A total of seven applications have been received from terminal operators eager to occupy new terminal space at Brisbanes expanding port, Fisherman Islands.

At close of tenders in early February, expressions of interest for the occupancy of container berths 11 and 12 had been received from Hutchison, Maersk, a Macquarie Bank-led consortium, a consortium involving Queensland Investment Corporation, and a consortium led by Australian logistics and transportation group Linfox.

With the tender process open to incumbent operators, the door is also open to Toll-owned Patrick Corp and DP World. PricewaterhouseCoopers will handle the evaluation process for the port corporation with a final decision on the successful tender expected to be announced in the second half of the year. Construction on the berths is due to begin in November 2008, with operations being phased in between 2011 and 2013.
