US Lines buoys Australasia ports with new service

The service will entail independent southbound sailings directly between Los Angeles and Australia/New Zealand, westbound services from New Zealand to Australia and export services from both New Zealand and Australia to Hong Kong/South China and North America.

Due to have commenced in early August, the ANZL service will provide shippers with an alternative to the current Alliance carrier offering.

Utilising the Port of Los Angeles as its West Coast North American gateway, ANZL vessels will sail direct to New Zealand – servicing both the Auckland and Tauranga markets – and then on to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

USL president and chief executive Ed Aldridge said the service will commence on a biweekly basis and then migrate to a fixed weekly schedule.

Heading the ANZL operation in Australasia is Noel Coom, who is well known in the local market as an executive with Australia-New Zealand Direct Line, which was a previous brand-leader on the tradelane.
