Coastlink is the leading European conference focused on short sea shipping, sustainable logistics and multimodal freight transport, which this year is hosted by the Port of Bilbao.

This year’s event offers a timely opportunity for industry professionals to come together, exchange knowledge and address some of the most pressing challenges facing the sector today.

Real-world focus

Coastlink is designed to support the growth of short sea and feeder shipping, and its integration with rail, inland waterways and road transport.

This year’s programme tackles high-priority topics including the changing role of short sea shipping in European freight strategy and the development of green and digital corridors across the continent.

Importantly, it will also focus on the important subjects of infrastructure upgrades to support energy transition at ports and Onshore Power Supply (OPS) readiness and next steps for deployment.

Also hot on the agenda are the legal and political topics which are impacting the sector including the introduction of the EU’s ETS carbon levy and the ongoing US tariff situation.

The programme

Two respected industry leaders have just been added to the growing speaker line-up for this year’s conference.

Julien Daguerre, vice president for short sea shipping logistics at CMA CGM, and James Evans, head of operations at Portsmouth International Port. Both bring valuable experience and insights to discussions on decarbonisation, operational growth and the future of multimodal logistics.

Mr Daguerre will be speaking in the panel discussion titled “What Do Shippers Want?” which will explore greening the value chain and developing sustainable multimodal logistics networks.

James Evans meanwhile, will join the panel discussion titled “Ops Expansion: How Do We Increase the Pace to Meet Demand?” in a session moderated by Norbert Grech, senior manager at the ports and yachting directorate, Transport Malta.
