DP World boosts southeast Asia presence
DP World is bolstering its presence in southeast Asia with a series of investments to enhance supply chain management across the region.
The company has committed to opening two new facilities in the Philippines as well as teaming up with Sabah Ports in Malaysia to manage Sapangar Bay Container Port. The collaboration – the first of DP World’s ventures into the country – will double the port’s capacity and help transform the state into a key trade hub within the East ASEAN Growth Area.
“The Asia Pacific region is a cornerstone of our global growth strategy,” said DP World Group chair and chief executive, His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.
“As the world’s largest and fastest-growing market for outsourced logistics, we see immense potential here.”
In the Philippines, H E Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem inaugurated a major upgrade at the Batangas Passenger Terminal, which will double capacity to 8 million passengers a year, as well as opening the new Tanza Barge Terminal at Cavite, providing a direct sea link to Manila.
DP World established Singapore as its Asia Pacific headquarters in 2021 and has been expanding its footprint across the region ever since. Today, it operates 19 ports and terminals in Australia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
