Rapid-deploy fenders for quicker port mobilisation

The Jumbo Fender Rapid Deploy has been launched to address operational bottlenecks across ports, terminals and ship-to-ship activities. 

“When time is critical, Jumbo Fender – Rapid Deploy keeps operations moving,” said Ian Taylor, global head of operations (products) at James Fisher Fendercare.

“It arrives pre-configured for rapid set-up and can be deployed in hours instead of days, reducing disruption across LNG operations, ship-to-ship transfers, floating terminals and emergency deployments, while maintaining the high safety standards our customers expect.”

Quick efficiency

Mr Taylor said that traditional fender installation can consume labour and equipment resources, increasing costs across port infrastructure programmes.

By contrast, the new mobile port fenders arrive fully netted and pre-tested, requiring only a standard compressor for inflation and no specialist tools, reducing configuration time to under a day.

Designed for faster mobilisation, the compact, pre-configured unit reduces transport needs and on-site assembly, enabling quicker deployment for time-critical maritime projects.

The optimised 4.5 x 9.0 design occupies less space during shipping and handling, lowering logistics costs and enabling easier repositioning on site.

James Fisher said the reduced footprint may cut project emissions by up to 50% by limiting container requirements.

Manufactured using reworked second-life tyres, the solution also supports higher environmental standards and ESG targets while maintaining ISO 17357-1:2014 compliance.
