Panama Canal proposes rate hike
The Panama Canal Authority has released proposals to hike Canal toll charges, increasing the number of vessel types, and breaking the tanker segment down into three segments.
If approved, the toll increases will take effect from July 1, 2012. As part of the tolls adjustment process, the ACP has established a consultation period from April 20-May 21, 2012, during which the ACP will receive formal written comments, opinions and written requests from interested parties to participate in the public hearing.
