UKTI Mission targets growing Brazilian market

UK Trade & Investment has organised a Trade Mission to Brazil, in collaboration with Port Finance International, for UK companies within the ports sector looking to take advantage of the growing Brazilian market.

Richard Pelly, Mission Manager

The aim of the Trade Mission, which is open to all UK based companies working across the development and management of ports, is to display UK expertise and help firms to benefit from opportunities within the developing market.

Richard Pelly, Mission manager, said: “Brazil is one of the world’s fastest growing economies. It’s investing £140bn to improve its transport system, no doubt in part due to the approaching 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.”

He added: “The ports sector alone in Brazil will receive nearly £10bn in investment. The mission offers a unique opportunity to promote UK ports sector expertise in Brazil; British companies have the knowledge, the sector expertise and the experience to really take advantage.”

Companies expected to attend the Trade Mission include those working across port management, port infrastructure, cost management, design services, port equipment, education and training and security and legal services.

UKTI has led previous Trade Missions in Brazil which have resulted in 36 contracts for 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games, which together amount to over £70m.

The Trade Mission will take place between 10 and 14 December 2012. For more information email rp@britishexpertise.org
