First for R.B.S. cloud product

The Australian TOS supplier claimed in a release that the implementation in 2017 at a Hamburg terminal “is sure to be a talking point” at this year’s container supply chain and dry bulk event TOC Europe.

TOPS Expert Cloud makes the benefits of the integrated real-time system available to smaller terminals based on a pay-per-use model (by teu).

R.B.S. will be represented at TOC Europe for 2018, held in Rotterdam from June 12 to 14, along with their local office RBS EMEA (an akquinet subsidiary), the system-provider said.

R.B.S. will be offering insights into the successful cloud implementation of TOPS Expert, with employees also on hand to discuss recent automation ventures with automated stacking crane (ASC) systems and automated rubber tyred gantry crane (RTG) systems, notably at Terminal Teluk Lamong in Indonesia.

The company has equipped the new terminal with TOPS, in a project implementation time of about two years, it said.

All planning and control of the ASC systems is undertaken by the RBS TOS, which has a ship-to-shore performance of 27 movements per hour plus a highly stable system availability, according to the Australian company.

Terminal Teluk Lamong now has a reliable TOS that has allowed it to streamline its operational processes and lower operating costs for good, the business claimed.

R.B.S. has also implemented a TOPS system at Terminal Petikemas Semarang in Indonesia — the first automated RTG terminal in the world.
